A short but intense stage: you climb from Pola de Allande up a wooded valley to the Palo pass, above 1,100 m, with views over the whole range, and descend through Montefurado and Lago to Berducedo.

In fog, wind or snow the pass is dangerous. There is a road alternative.
Next to the church at Lago stands a yew over 500 years old.
It is cold up there even in summer.
