The stage of the Montes de Oca, once feared for their bandits. After a few quiet villages you climb into a forest of oaks and pines that you cross for 12 km without services, to the monastery of San Juan de Ortega.

Flat as far as Villafranca Montes de Oca and then, suddenly, a stiff climb of about 300 m. At the top, wide tracks with short rises to San Juan de Ortega.

A stiff climb on a path through oaks to the Mojapán fountain and the memorial to those killed in the Civil War.
A wide, straight track through pines, with a couple of short dips and rises, to the clearing of the monastery.
Tips
Between Villafranca and San Juan de Ortega there are 12 km of forest without services.
Around the equinoxes, about 21 March and 22 September, a ray of sunlight lights up a capital of the Annunciation in the church at dusk.
San Juan de Ortega is little more than the monastery and the albergue. If it is full, Agés is 3.6 km further on.
