After the Pyrenees, a stage of forest and white villages with red roofs. You pass through Burguete, Hemingway’s village, climb to the Alto de Erro and drop to the river Arga at Zubiri, crossed by the Bridge of Rabies.

The route
A flat walk through the forest and meadows of the valley. Burguete has every service and the last ATM for many kilometres.
Beech forests, dirt tracks and two short climbs. Between Bizkarreta and Lintzoain the path narrows between stone walls.
A descent of about 300 m on a slate and rock path that is as slippery as ice when wet. Take it easy.
Tips
The last 4 km to Zubiri are loose stone and slate. In the rain, use poles and take short steps.
Many small albergues and bars in Navarre only take cash.
It is where almost everyone who left Roncesvalles stops. If you arrive late, Larrasoaña is 5.5 km further on.

It is moderate. The climb to the Alto de Erro is manageable; the hardest part is the final descent, steep and slippery.
