A gentle stage down the Arga valley through riverside woods and small villages, ending with the entry into Pamplona over the Magdalena bridge and through the city walls, under the Portal de Francia.

The route
The least pretty section: you skirt the magnesite factory and its quarry. Then the path returns to the woods by the Arga.
Paths among oaks and fields, with the river always close. Stretches of track and the odd short climb.
You cross the Ulzama at Arre and enter the city through Villava and Burlada. The finish, over the Magdalena bridge and along the walls, is one of the most beautiful on the Camino.
Tips
The nuns at the parish albergue let you climb up and ring the bell. A good break before entering the city.
It is the first big city: outdoor shops, pharmacies and podiatrists in case your feet are already complaining.
Plaza del Castillo and Calle Estafeta are the places for dinner and pintxos. During San Fermín, 6–14 July, book far in advance.

About 20.4 km to the centre. It takes about 5 hours.
It is easy: almost all flat or gently downhill, with the odd short rise.
The Jesús y María albergue is right in the old town. There are also private albergues, and more in Cizur Menor, 5 km on, if you prefer to leave the city behind.
