You start by climbing the Alto de Mostelares, with a 12% ramp, and from the top you can see half the meseta. You enter Palencia over the Itero bridge, reach Boadilla and finish walking beside the Canal de Castilla to Frómista.

The route
You cross the Odra meadows and climb to the top on a steep ramp. Up there is a shade shelter and huge views.
A steep descent and a long flat to the hermitage of San Nicolás and the Itero bridge over the Pisuerga, which separates Burgos from Palencia.
Fields to Boadilla and, from there, a towpath beside the Canal de Castilla that leads to its locks at Frómista.
Tips
The ramp is much easier first thing, with the sunrise behind you.
One of the purest Romanesque churches in Spain. It is in the centre, a few metres from the path.
Between Itero de la Vega and Boadilla there are 8 km without services.
