The wine stage. You leave Logroño through La Grajera park and its reservoir, pass through Navarrete, a village of potters, and cross a sea of vines to Nájera, at the foot of its red cliffs.

The route
The greenest way out of any city on the Camino: parks, La Grajera reservoir and a walk among vines to Navarrete.
Vineyards everywhere and the option of a detour to Ventosa. At the top, pilgrims leave stones and crosses on the fence.
A gentle descent to the Poyo de Roldán and the entry into Nájera through its newer part to the river Najerilla.
Tips
Ventosa (19 km) has a highly recommended albergue and leaves 10 km for the next day.
Between Navarrete and Nájera there is hardly any shade. In summer, leave before dawn or very early.
The monastery of Nájera, pantheon of the kings of Navarre, is next to the albergue. A good afternoon visit.

It has no big climbs, but it is one of the longest on the Camino. Heat is the main problem in summer.
