The route
You climb through pines leaving Nájera and drop to Azofra among vines. A good place for breakfast.
Nine kilometres of track between cereal fields and hills, with no villages. At the end, the half-built housing estates of Cirueña.
A gentle descent through wheat fields, with the free-standing tower of Santo Domingo cathedral as your guide.
Tips
Between Azofra and Cirueña there are no services and no shade.
Tradition says that if the cathedral rooster crows as you pass, you will have a good Camino.
The albergue in Santo Domingo, run by the Confraternity of the Saint, is large and right in the centre.
