An up-and-down stage among vines, olive groves and villages perched on hilltops. The highlight is Cirauqui, entered through a medieval arch and left along a stretch of Roman road with its bridge.

No big climbs, but the ground undulates all day: the rise to Mañeru, the hill of Cirauqui and several short climbs before Estella.

The route
You cross the bridge, follow the Arga for a while and climb to Mañeru. From there, among the vines, you can see Cirauqui on its hill.
You descend along the Roman road and its bridge, one of the oldest stretches underfoot on the whole Camino. After that, tracks beside the motorway.
Fields and vineyards, Villatuerta and its bridge, and the entry into Estella beside the river Ega, with the church of the Holy Sepulchre.
Tips
The flagstones of the Roman road are uneven and slippery when damp.
San Pedro de la Rúa, the Palace of the Kings of Navarre and the Cárcel bridge are just a few metres from each other.
Almost every village on this stage has a fountain: no need to carry much.
